Let It Snow

Howdy peeps – happy weekend! I hope you have something fun planned! I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple project that I created for the How-To’s section on our website. This simple Z-fold features primarily papers, stamps and dies from the Snow Day collection. This particular version is my own design that typically showcases three patterned papers, however, I decided on just two patterned papers for this card because I love that plaid so much!

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Lessebo Navy Blue cardstock along with layering panels from a couple prints in the Snow Day collection. I stamped the snow globe (from the Snow Globe Collection Stamps) on Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cut it with the coordinating Snow Globe Outline Die. I stamped the snowman inside the globe and colored him with Copic Ciao alcohol markers. I used Catherine Pooler Stone Blue and Tranquil inks for the larger snowflakes (popped up on foam squares) and the snowflake background. The finishing touch was adding a few Back To Basics Royal Enamel Dots.

Here’s a final shot of the card opened up. The inside sentiment is from the Snow Day Collection Stamps. stamped in Catherine Pooler Juniper Mist ink. I love all the blues on this… it screams winter! Be sure to check out my tutorial on the website if you want to learn how to make it! It’s simple and it’s fun!

Hey everybody, happy Monday! – I hope you had a good weekend! We thought we were going to get some snow but it never happened. It’s been nice and chilly, though… just how we like it! I have a super cute Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share today – a shaker card featuring papers and die cut pieces from our new Barnyard Bliss collection, along with our Shaker Frames A2 Frames #2, some of our foam, acetate and adhesive squares, and a variety of shaker bits from our Sprinkles line! Y’all, this is one of THE cutest collections ever!

I cut a side-folding A2 size card base from CutCardStock Basis Dark Red cardstock along with layering panels and a shaker frame from coordinating prints from the Barnyard Bliss collection. Of course, I used foam and acetate from our Back To Basics Shaker Basics which I filled with Snow White Fine Crushed Glass, Dandelion Hearts Sequins and Matte Dark Orange 2mm Beads from our Sprinkles line. I also threw in some small die cut pieces from the Barnyard Bliss collection and used a couple to embellish the front.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a patterned paper strip and a couple more Barnyard Bliss die cut pieces, popping the heart up on a foam square from our Adhesive Basics Squares & Strips.

Scrappy hugs,

BRRRRR!

Hey everybody, happy Monday – can you believe we’re already on the down-slide to mid-November?! Christmas is on the way and I have THE perfect Keep It Simple DT inspiration project to share with you! I created a snow globe box card and I’m proud to say it’s my own design. I shared my template about a month ago with the KIS owner and I believe a die set may be in the works! I’m SO excited! It was definitely a fun one and so rewarding watching it come together. I used papers, stamps and dies from our NEW Little Snowmen collection along with a few other items in the store.

I cut the snow globe layers from Neenah Classic Crest Recycled Classic Natural White and the background and snow banks from a snowflake pattern in the collection using our Back To Basics Stitched Circles Nested Dies and Wavy Border Dies. I cut the base from CutCardStock Lessebo Coffee Bean cardstock and used our older Hello Adventure Woodgrain background stamp which I have since discovered is no longer in stock. I apologize for that but any woodgrain background stamp or patterned cardstock would work. It just gives the base a little more of a realistic wooden feel.

I stamped the images and sentiment from the Little Snowmen Collection Stamps on the natural cardstock in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I colored them with Copic Ciao alcohol markers and then restamped in Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink to get nice crisp lines. I cut them all with the coordinating Little Snowmen Outline Dies and then assembled the card. Like I always say, the assembly is the most fun!

I embellished the back with a piece of gingham paper from the collection and then stamped a sentiment in Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink.

Here are a couple additional angled shots. It folds flat for mailing. So fun – and I LOVE how it turned out! I made my original prototype with acetate on the first two layers to resemble a real snow globe and they were a bit too heavy. So I ended up using open frames on this second version which worked out better.

Dreams Do Come True

Hey everybody, Happy Monday – I hope you had a good weekend! I’ve popped in this morning with a super cute Keep It Simple DT inspiration project featuring papers, stamps and dies from our new Best Day Ever collection along with our new Confetti stencil. I created a swing flap fun fold (one of my all-time favorites) and I totally love how this turned out! Such a fun collection!

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Basis Dark Red along with layering panels from the Best Day Ever 12×12 Collection Pack. Using a Back To Basics Stitched Squares Nested Die, I cut a square aperture from the front flap. I then cut an additional square from CutCardStock Savoy Bright White Cotton cardstock which I embellished using the Confetti stencil and Catherine Pooler Sauna, Suede Shoes and Rockin’ Red inks. I also stamped several images and a sentiment from the Best Day Ever Collection Stamps, colored them with assorted markers, and cut them with the Best Day Ever Outline Dies.

I cut the inside panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with the patterned paper panels. I stamped an additional sentiment and a couple stars from the same Best Day Ever Collection Stamps and cut them with the coordinating Best Day Ever Outline Dies. Love, love, love how this turned out!

Scrappy hugs,

Just Rowing by to say HI

Hey everybody, I hope your week has started off on a nice note and your weather isn’t too awfully hot where you are. I’m back this morning with another post for Keep It Simple. It’s turning out to be a busy day on my blog and I’m glad you’re here! I created a library pocket card featuring papers, stamps and dies from our new Vikings collection. OMGoodness, this is such an amazing collection and I see it getting a lot of use! And of course, this library pocket card really shows off these fun products! I do have typed instructions for this fold, so if you’d like to have them, let me know!

I cut the pocket and insert from CutCardStock Royal Sundance Kraft Fiber cardstock and rounded the corners on the flap. I cut layering panels from coordinating prints in the Vikings 6×9 Collection Pack to embellish the front. I stamped the focal image from the Vikings Collection Stamps in Memento Espresso Truffle ink and colored it with an assortment of markers. I cut it with the coordinating Vikings Outline Die and adhered it to the pocket front with thin foam squares. The finishing touch for the front was adding the sentiment (from the same stamp set) which I stamped in the brown ink and trimmed.

I rounded the corners of the insert and embellished it with coordinating papers from the Vikings Collection Pack. I stamped another sentiment in the brown ink and added a stamped and die cut helmet. This is so stinkin’ cute I can’t stand it!

Scrappy hugs,

You’re the Fairest of them All

Hey everybody, I hope you’re having a terrific Tuesday! Not sure why but our day temps have been in the mid to upper 70s – and nights in the upper 50s to low 60s! I can dig it! I’m delighted to share another inspiration project for Keep It Simple created with our new Once Upon A Time: Snow White collection. I used papers, stamps and dies from this new collection to make an awesome twisted gate fold, and enjoyed every minute of it. This is such a fantastic fold that’s really easy and packs a punch.

Cut the card base from Papertrey Ink Prairie Grass cardstock at 7-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, scored at 2-1/2″ and 5″. This panel now is divided into three sections. Score the left and right sections from the upper left corner diagonally down to the bottom right corner, leaving the middle section alone. Mountain fold the two diagonal score lines and valley fold the two straight score lines, using a bone folder to burnish the creases.

Cut two panels of patterned paper from the Snow White 12×12 Collection Pack at 2-1/4″ x 3-7/8″ and decide which print you want for the ‘upper’ and ‘lower’ flaps. For the upper flaps (the yellow print on my project), cut the panel diagonally from the upper left corner down to the lower right corner. For the lower flaps (the green print on my project), cut the upper right corner down to the lower left corner. Adhere the panels to the flaps.

Using the Snow White Collection Stamps, stamp Snow White on Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Color her with alcohol markers, cut her with the coordinating Outline Die, and adhere her to the card front. Be sure to apply the adhesive only to one side so the card opens and closes properly. Stamp the first part of the sentiment (from the same stamp set) in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

The sentiment was too large to fit on the inside panel, so I stamped it on a full sheet of 80# Solar White and ran it through the laser printer on 50% reduction. I trimmed the panel and layered it on a slightly larger panel of the Prairie Grass cardstock, and this completed the card. Love, love, love how this turned out!

Scrappy hugs,

Let’s Party Like It’s 1000 BC

Hey y’all, I’m baaaack! In my last post, I mentioned that I have two Keep It Simple DT inspiration projects to share today, and this second one is a shirt card featuring papers and die cut pieces from our brand new Vikings Collection that just launched yesterday. I totally love this collection and I just HAD to make another shirt card using my own template. I hope you’re not too tired of seeing shirt cards, lol, because I’ve made quite a few of them over the past several months. They are so fun and everybody loves them!

I cut the card base (shirt, sleeves and collar) from CutCardStock Lessebo White cardstock along with layering panels from coordinating prints in the Vikings 12×12 Collection Pack. I used Back To Basics Jade Enamel Dots for the buttons and added a sentiment from the Vikings Die Cut Pieces.

I cut the inside panel from Lessebo White as well, and embellished it with a leftover strip of the paper used for the shirt. I added another sentiment and two more die cuts from the Vikings Die Cut Pieces, which completed the card. Easy peasy and totally adorable!

Living the fairytale

Hey everybody, happy weekend! Dang, I just can’t get over how fast this month has flown by! I have a couple Keep It Simple inspiration projects to share today (in separate posts) and they both are so stinkin’ cute, I can’t stand it! This one is a matchbox pop-up and features our new Once Upon A Time: Snow White Collection that launched a couple weeks ago… if you’re a princess fan, this collection is definitely for you. I’ve only made one of these matchbox pop-ups prior to this one and I’ve had the notes in my folder for so long I don’t remember where I originally saw it. But if you search for it online, you’ll find quite a few out there. It’s a fun one, for sure, and really packs a punch!

I cut the box base and slide-in from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock along with layering panels for both pieces from coordinating prints in the Snow White 6×9 Collection Pack. I grabbed the Snow White Die Cut Pieces and picked out a sentiment, Snow White, the seven dwarfs, and some critters to embellish both pieces. This project went together seamlessly and I just love how it turned out!

Scrappy hugs,

Igloo Sweet Igloo

Hey everybody, top of the morning to you, and here’s wishing you a wonderful week ahead! I’m delighted to share another Keep It Simple DT inspiration project that’s being featured on our How To’s page on the website. This ‘tri-fold with a view’ fun fold features papers, stamps and dies from our Penguin Party Collection. I also used our Back To Basics Stitched Circles and Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies along with our Back To Basics Pastel Gingham Ribbon and Pastel Glitter Enamel Dots.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Aubergine cardstock and embellished the card front with coordinating prints from the Penguin Party 12×12 Collection Pack. The sentiment is from the Igloo Collection Stamps, and I added pastel enamel dots and a tiny pastel gingham bow, both from our Back To Basics line.

The images in the little scene are from the Igloo Collection Stamps and cut with the coordinating Igloo Outline Dies, adhered to a circle cut from 12×12 Cardstock Shop Encore Glacier Melt Textured Cardstock.

For the inside panel, I used more paper and a sentiment stamp from the Penguin Party Collection, and added a rectangle die cut from our Back To Basics Stitched Rectangles Nested Dies. For more details, be sure to see my tutorial on the Keep It Simple website!

Scrappy hugs,

you make me sew happy

Hey everybody, Happy Tuesday – I hope you had a great Fourth of July weekend and were able to have some fun without getting too hot and sweaty, lol! I’m delighted to share a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project with you today featuring our new KIS Cuts Sewing Machine dies! OMGoodness, you know how I love me some shaped cards and I really had a blast putting this together! I also used stamps, dies and die cut pieces from our new Cheerful Cottage collection along with several colors of patterned papers from our Back To Basics 6×9 Collection Packs.

Using the main die in the KIS Cuts Sewing Machine die set, I cut a top folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# Solar White cardstock by sliding the top edge of the die just above the folded edge of the cardstock. Then I cut all the decorative elements from prints in our Back To Basics Lilac, Rose, Lemon, Jade and Kraft 6×9 Collection Packs (with an extra set of Rose colored flowers for the inside).

Using the Cheerful Cottage Collection Stamps, I stamped the front sentiment and an inside embellishment in Versafine Onyx Black ink on CutCardStock Natural Translucent Vellum. I heat embossed them with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder and cut them with the coordinating Cheerful Cottage Outline Dies. Of course, as I always say, the assembly was the most fun!

Using the same main die from the set, I cut the inside panel from 80# Solar White cardstock and embellished it with the extra set of flowers and the stamped, embossed and die cut element. I used a sentiment from the Cheerful Cottage Die Cut Pieces, and the card was done. I LOVE how this turned out!
