A Cup Of Christmas Cheer

8/9/20 DT Favorite at Sweet Stampers Challenge Blog!

Hi everyone! Happy Huuump Day! Hope you’re having a wonderful week! Can’t believe next week is the last week of July already… where has this year gone?! It’ll be Christmas again before we know it and I’ve really been in Christmas mode! I’ve popped in this morning to share a card I created for The Outlawz Challenges. I put the finishing touches on a couple cards that were on the table in my studio yesterday afternoon and this is one of them, and it’s for the July Progressive/Freebie Challenge. Our sponsor this month is Twinkle Lane Designs who provided us with the Gingerbread Treat digital stamp set. How stinkin’ cute is this little guy?!

I found several varieties of this cool front step card on Pinterest several weeks ago and traced one version to the Stempeleinmaleins blog where I had to convert the A2 size measurements to inches. I tweaked the measurements for this Christmas card to make it a little wider to accommodate the digital image I printed, so it’s 5-1/2″ square overall.

I created the card base from kraft cardstock. All the coordinating papers I used are from the Echo Park Wise Men Still Seek him 6×6 paper pad which can be used for either feminine or masculine projects. I colored the image with alcohol markers, trimmed it and layered it on tan paper. The digital stamp set included two sentiments so I punched one for the front with a scallop punch and layered it on a slightly larger die cut oval. I added a few copper flat-back pearls to finish the front.

For the back, I cut the other sentiment with a die and layered it on a slightly larger punched scalloped oval which I adhered to another patterned paper from the paper pad. This left plenty of room to write a custom message and signature.

And one more look, folded flat for mailing… totally loving how this turned out!

Silver Glitz and Glam Handbag

7/30/20 DT Favorite at Classic Design Challenge Blog!
8/5/20 Top 3 at Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenges!
8/18/20 Top 3 at Not Just Cards Challenges!

Hi, friends! Happy Monday – hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuring more of the Curious Metallic and Glitter cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a glitzy and glamorous little handbag to hold birthday chocolates, jewelry or a gift card! OMG, how stinkin’ cute is this?!

2020_0527001

I found this stamp and die set at one of my favorite online stores several months ago and could not wait to get my hands on it! I cut all the purse pieces from CCS Silver Glitter cardstock and Curious Metallic White-Silver cardstock. I also used Pop-Tone Wild Cherry cardstock for a pop of red on the charm and one of the tags, and then to tie in that pop of red I used a few red flat-back pearls. I stamped both tags in red ink (tone-on-tone stamping on the red tag) and then heat embossed the sentiment tag with clear embossing powder over top the red ink. I had a small ball chain in my stash that I used to hang the charm, tassel and tags off one of the straps.

Here’s a shot of the back…

2020_0527003

And one more look… I love it so much I can’t stand it! And I can’t wait to make some more using different colors and patterns of cardstock. So fun!

Yellow mother’s day bouquet

7/26/20 Rising Star at A Place To Start!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend and you’re staying safe and well! I’m playing in The Outlawz Challenges and have popped in to share a pretty hybrid mother’s day card I was commissioned to make that I’m entering into the Twisted Thursdays Challenge. It’s an Anything Goes challenge with an optional twist of polka dots, with no sponsor, so come on over and play with us!

I printed the digital image from Jan’s Digi Stamps on linen cardstock and cut it with a stitched mini scallop die. To tie in the yellow rose and Lily of the Valley stalks, I went with a yellow background panel that I cut with a larger stitched rectangle die. I added yellow polka dot patterned paper at the bottom which works perfectly with the Twisted Thursday Challenge this time! I stamped the mother’s day sentiment in black ink beneath the image to complete the front.

I printed a small flower from the digital stamp set on white cardstock and trimmed the panel with the image in the lower right corner. I stamped the inside sentiment in black ink and adhered the panel to a yellow stitched rectangle.

And one more peek… so loving how this turned out!

Christmas ATCs

Hi friends! I hope it’s not too awfully hot where you are! It’s pretty warm here but our humidity is low so it never feels quite as warm as it really is. You know how I love ATCs so I created a set of six with three cards and three coins, and they are pretty sparkly and wintery!

Not only are ATCs fun, but they are easy and work up quickly for the most part. I grabbed the two snowy Christmas stamp sets I wanted to use and stamped six sentiments in teal ink and cut them into strips. I cut two sets of card bases with the trimmer and punched two sets of coin bases with a 2-1/2″ circle punch. I arranged snowflakes from the two stamp sets on my stamp positioner and stamped the backgrounds in teal ink. I moved the bases ever so slightly to off-set the stamping, stamped again in Versamark, applied iridescent sparkle embossing powder and heat embossed. I adhered each sentiment to a strip of teal cardstock and then adhered one to each card and coin. Super happy with how these turned out!

Congrats, Grad! (set of 2 gift card holders)

Hi friends! Hump Day is behind us and we’re headed toward the weekend! I’m thrilled to share that I’m once again guest designing over at C.R.A.F.T. Challenges! One of my cards was chosen as the first of the Top 3 spots a few weeks back which landed me a guest gig! I’m stoked to share my set of two graduation gift card holders (one for a male and one for a female) for Challenge #563 – Graduation. Our sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and the prize is a $12 gift code, so come on over and play for a chance to win! I purchased the adorable Grad Mouse digi stamp to add to my stash because I’m going to need it for some graduation events down the road anyway and thought it would be great to use for a male or female project.

2020_0523010

I’ve had handwritten instructions for this gift card holder in my tutorial folder for many years (credit goes to Gina K Designs and StampTV) and have made quite a few of them for various occasions. If you’re interested, the cutting and scoring details are outlined in a fairly recent post on my blog HERE. I colored the images with Nuvo alcohol markers and cut them with a stitched rectangle die. The inside sentiment panels were cut with the same stitched rectangle die. The sentiments are computer-generated. The closure (hidden beneath the focal image on the front) is a velcro circle. To tie in the stars in the image on the front, I added a primitive star die cut to the left side of each. Here is the male version…

And here is the female version…

I used double-sided textured cardstock for the panels and dry embossed the darker side (used on the outside) with a harlequin embossing folder. I’ve also included a shot from above with a faux gift card in place so you can see the construction. Very cool and very simple!

And one more peek at the pair… these turned out so stinkin’ cute I can’t even stand it! ;)

The greatest gift

Hi everyone! A very Happy Friday to you! I’m stoked to be back on the CutCardStock blog today with an awesome DT inspiration project featuringCurious Metallic and Glitter cardstock that was included in our Designer’s Pack! Affiliate links are used in this post at no cost to you. I really appreciate your support! I created a Christmas card in gold tones with a pop of traditional red and green. It’s never too early to work on those Christmas cards!

2020_0527009

I created the poinsettia embellishment first from CCS Gold Glitter cardstock, using Pop-Tone Wild Cherry cardstock for the center and Basis Green cardstock for the leaves, and set it aside. I cut a standard A2 size top-fold card base from Classic Crest Baronial Ivory cardstock and layered a panel of Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock onto the card base. I adhered a strip of the gold glitter cardstock horizontally across the front panel and then layered a narrow strip of the gold leaf metallic cardstock onto the glitter strip. I adhered the poinsettia embellishment on the left side and then stamped the sentiment in red ink on the bottom right. I embellished the center of the poinsettia with Crystal Drops and then added a few more dots to the background for a little interest.

2020_0527010

I embellished the inside panel with strips of the gold glitter and gold leaf metallic cardstock, stamped the sentiment in red ink, and layered the panel on the gold leaf metallic cardstock.

2020_0527011

One more peek… I’m so smitten with this design! Absolutely loving the elegant look of the gold glitter cardstock on the gold leaf metallic cardstock!

Across The Miles

Hi friends! Happy Hump Day – I hope you have a wonderful day! So hard to believe we’re headed into July already! I’ve popped in this morning to share another sample I created for Prickley Pear Stamps! I’m so in love with these stamps and dies – I could play endlessly in my studio, lol! I created a pretty ‘missing you’ shaped card featuring the gorgeous Blue Without You Bluebonnets clear stamp set.

I stamped the bluebonnets in Versamark and heat embossed the image in gold. I pressed blue distress ink onto my glass mat, spritzed a little water on it, and watercolored the bluebonnets. I used the heat tool sporadically to dry the panel before adding more color in spots. I colored the tops of the bluebonnets and the leaves (and the little tiny bee in the upper left!) with Nuvo alcohol markers once the panel was dry.

Keeping the inside very simple, I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in blue archival ink.

And one more look… loving how the watercoloring looks with the gold embossing!

Crafters canvas

Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a good day! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #39 – Anything Goes + Open Technique! Remember, all of our challenges are ‘anything goes’ and we offer an optional technique twist each month to get your mojo going! This month the twist is an open technique so you can use whatever technique you want for your project but just tell us what it is in your blog post. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten really inky so I created a mixed media canvas for my studio!

2020_0306001

I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this was! I absolutely love mixed media and don’t do nearly enough of it. I guest designed for The Hedgehog Hollow back in March and received the March Subscription Box to create with, and used quite a few goodies from that box on this canvas. It’s an 8×8 stretched canvas that I covered with two coats of Gesso. I applied embossing paste over The Hedgehog Hollow ruler stencil, and once dry, I added pink, orange, purple and green shimmer sprays which were really vibrant so I spritzed them with water to tone them down a bit. When those inks were dry, I splattered the entire front of the canvas with slightly-watered-down Copic white opaque ink on a fan brush and then stamped with the vertical words stamp set from The Hedgehog Hollow pressed into the Copic white opaque ink, leaving all the stamps on the plastic sheet, which yielded some cool white blotchy illegible letters.

2020_0306002

I stamped, colored and fussy cut a pen, bottle of ink, bottle of glue, painter’s palette and brush, and tube of paint, all from The Hedgehog Hollow. I stamped sentiments (also from The Hedgehog Hollow) in pink and green ink and die cut them – and discovered that those inks aren’t waterproof. I somehow got a droplet of water on the green sentiment and was about to re-stamp it when I thought ‘nope, that just adds to the mess’ so I left it alone. I added a twine hanger constructed of three lengths of twine that I knotted every couple inches and attached with a screw on each side of the canvas.

I dug into my crafty stash and found several other items to compliment the stamped images and sentiments. Then the fun began… arranging everything on the canvas! I’m so loving how this turned out and can’t wait to hang it in my studio! Here are a couple more angled shots.

Wishing You A Merry Christmas

Hi everyone! Happy Hump Day – the first half of 2020 is officially over and it’ll be Christmas again before we know it, lol! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m excited to share my DT inspiration for MLCCB #24 – July Anything Christmas Goes! I created a simple vintage Christmas card in pink/red and brown tones and I love how it turned out.

2019_1219001a

I have to go through my 6×6 paper pads every so often because I forget what I have. I admit that I’m a paper hoarder so I don’t think that’s uncommon, lol! I found this gorgeous Crafter’s Companion pad and used two coordinating papers along with a glittered die cut to create the focal point. I stamped above and below the strip, and added some Crystal Drops. I layered the panel on kraft paper and then popped it up on a foam layer for some nice dimension.

2019_1219002a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of the pink paper used on the front, stamped the rest of the sentiment and added a handmade punched embellishment. I layered the inside panel on the kraft paper as well, which I thought contributed nicely to the vintage look.

2019_1219003a

And one more look… a simple card that could easily be mass produced! Love, love, love!

“ewe” rock!

Hi everyone! Happy July 1st to you! A new challenge is live this morning at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m thrilled to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #135 – Anything Goes! I created a super cute birthday card using the “ewe rock” Bugaboo Digi Stamps image and sentiment. I absolutely LOVE this image!

2019_1224017a

I colored the image with my Studio 71 alcohol markers and cut it with a stitched mini scallop die. I chose blue faux texture paper for the background which I layered on dark gray cardstock to keep with the blue and gray colors in the image. I cut the sentiment in a thin strip and layered it on several more strips of cardstock for dimension, and then adhered it in a diagonal fashion.

2019_1224018a

I embellished the inside panel with leftover strips of paper and cardstock used on the front, and stamped the birthday sentiment in black ink.

2019_1224019a

One more look… I’m so smitten with this guy! I actually made a second one with a brown sheep and sent him to my musician son for his birthday last week! ;)
