Snowflake Ornament

Hi friends! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend and your weather is wonderful! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Merry Little Christmas Challenge Blog and I’m super excited to share my DT inspiration project for MLCCB #58 – Anything Christmas Goes! I had fun making a see-through shaker ornament for this challenge featuring the oh-so-pretty Prickley Pear Stamps Snowflake Inserts stamp set and coordinating Snowflake Pendant die. I used Kat Scrappiness Artificial Snow and Pearl Glass Dots for the shaker mix and I love how it turned out!

I started by die cutting two stitched circle frames from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock using the Keep It Simple Stitched Circles Nested dies along with two acetate circles using the larger of the two dies I used for the frame. Next, I die cut two snowflakes from CutCardStock Stardream Metallic Eris cardstock using the Prickley Pear Stamps Snowflake Pendant die. I stamped the candy cane image from the Prickley Pear Stamps Snowflake Inserts stamp set on CutCardStock Pop Tone Sweet Tooth cardstock, colored it with alcohol markers, and punched it with the Stampin’ Up 1-1/4″ circle punch.

I assembled each side of the ornament by adhering a frame and snowflake die cut on top of an acetate circle. I adhered the stamped image to the center of one of the snowflake die cuts and added Eyelet Outlet pearls to the snowflake – this would be the front of the ornament. I flipped the bottom layer of the ornament over to expose the acetate side and applied GKD shaker strips around the outside perimeter of the circle.

I added the Kat Scrappiness Artificial Snow and Pearl Glass Dots for the shaker mix and then closed up the shaker by adding the front layer and lining up the snowflake die cut. I adhered 1/8″ white ribbon between the front and bottom layers of the ornament to conceal the shaker strip foam. The final step was adhering a loop of GKD gold cording and a small green gingham bow (fashioned from Keep It Simple Back To Basics Jade Ribbon) with my cordless glue gun.

Thinking of you

Howdy peeps! Can you believe it’s the first day of September already?! Seems like the new year just started, lol! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Mix It Up Challenge Blog and I’m delighted to share my DT inspiration project for MIUCB #73 – Anything Goes + optional Smooshing! Remember that all of our challenges are ‘anything goes’ and the technique twist is optional and not required to play! Do what inspires you! I have to admit that there’s nothing more relaxing to me than spritzing a little water over ink and then smooshing paper into it! No matter what color(s) you use or how much (or how little) ink you use, the look is different every single time – and I love that! This card features the older Gina K Designs Simply the Best stamp set, Ranger fossilized amber distress oxide ink for smooshing, and Catherine Pooler Twilight, Black Jack and Midnight inks for stamping. I totally love how it turned out!

A standard A2 size side-folding card base was cut from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. I also cut two layering panels from CutCardStock Yellow Jacket Textured 4×6 cardstock and one from Lessebo Granite Gray cardstock. Finally, I cut a layering panel from Tim Holtz distress watercolor cardstock and created the smooshed background using a Tim Holtz distress sprayer and Ranger fossilized amber distress oxide ink. I trimmed the panel and stamped a leaf image (from the GKD Simply the Best stamp set) multiple times in Catherine Pooler Twilight, Black Jack and Midnight inks. I stamped the sentiment (from the same GKD stamp set) on a scrap piece of Yellow Jacket cardstock, trimmed it and added it to the panel on a double-sided foam strip. The finishing touch was adding several Stampin’ Up Classic Matte Dots.

I cut the inside panel from Solar White and embellished it with leftover strips of Yellow Jacket and Granite Gray cardstock used on the front. I stamped a leaf from the same GKD stamp set in Twilight ink and the sentiment in Midnight ink, and layered the panel on Granite Gray cardstock.

Sending Smiles and Sunshine

Hey everybody! I hope you’re having a fantastic day! Our new challenge over at Love To Craft Challenge Blog launched this morning and I’m tickled to share my inspiration project for LTCCB #82 – Anything Goes! I’m always making fun folds and created a side panel pillar card that my friend, Debbie, over at Secrets To Stamping shared on her blog a while back. I’ve made several of these and it’s definitely a fun one. I used some of the brightest Doodlebug Design papers in my stash which happen to be some of the oldest, lol! Sometimes I have difficulty cutting into papers that I really like and yet other times, I tear right into them! Doesn’t make any sense! ;)

I cut the card base and a layering panel from CutCardStock Astrobrights Lunar Blue cardstock. The remaining layering panels were cut from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White, CutCardStock Pop Tone Limeade and Doodlebug Design Nifty Notions 6×6 papers. I ran the Limeade panel through the Big Shot with the Lifestyle Crafts Polka Dots embossing folder.

I added a piece of ephemera (from the Spellbinders Wild Hello June 2021 Kit of the Month) for the front sentiment which I cut with a Keep It Simple Stitched Circles Nested Die and embellished with a bow fashioned from Doodlebug Design Lily White Doodle Twine. The finishing touch was adding several Eyelet Outlet 5mm turquoise gemstones.

I cut the back panel from Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of the colorful plaid Nifty Notions paper used on the front. Using a die from the Spellbinders Wild Hello June 2021 Kit of the Month, I die cut the birthday sentiment and added a fussy-cut flower, also from the Nifty Notions paper used on the front.

The Sun & Moon Inchie Album

Hi friends! Happy Sunday – I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend! Our new challenge is live this morning over at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog and I’m super stoked to share my DT inspiration project for LTSCB #169 – Anything Goes! You may remember that I started making and collecting inchie albums last year along with my ATCs. I created a celestial-themed mini book for this challenge using the Gecko Galz Moon & Sun Inchies, and I love how it turned out!

I typed the book title on my laptop, trimmed it and ran a blue Tombow marker around the edges. I made the mini book from CutCardStock Basis 80# White 12×12 cardstock and covered it with sapphire and gold foiled paper from the Rinea Peacock Variety Pack. I printed the Gecko Galz Moon & Sun Inchies on Basis 80# White cardstock, punched the images with an EK Success 1″ square punch, and adhered one to each page.

Wooot – you look fabulous

Hey everybody, happy Sunday! I hope you’re having a good weekend! I’m delighted to share a birthday card for Keep It Simple! Yep, it’s our birthday! Be sure to check out our new KIS Birthday Club which debuted a couple days ago! By signing up you’ll get a 30% off coupon code to use on your birthday which is good for 45 days after your birthday! AND if you sign up by the end of August you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $25 shopping coupon! How cool is that?! Be sure to use my code LoveToScrap2 for 10% off your entire order!

I created this birthday card using the super adorable Buzzy Hands Happy New Year stamp. Yes, you read that right… a Happy New Year stamp. I was really thinking outside the box with this… some bright colors for those balloons, noise-maker and his hat (paired with sentiments from the Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments stamp set) were all I needed to turn this into a birthday card! A timeless argyle background using the KIS Stamps & Stencils really added to the fun! At first glance, this looks pretty plain but the image is actually multi-dimensional (four layers at the thickest point) and very cool! I love how it turned out!

I cut a standard A2 side-folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock along with layering panels from Solar White and CutCardStock Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock. Using the KIS Argyle Stamps & Stencils with Ranger squeezed lemonade and mowed lawn distress inks, I created the background on the Solar White layering panel. I trimmed it and layered it on the black cardstock, then added a torn panel of CutCardStock Glama Natural Translucent Vellum to tone down the busy background.

I stamped the gnome on Solar White cardstock and used a Sharpie white paint pen to ‘white out’ the champagne glass and then made a copy of that image which I fussy cut. I stamped him three more times and used those stamped images to cut the pieces and parts from to layer him up with foam squares, coloring each layer as necessary. I stamped sentiments from the Back To Basics Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a vellum scrap, stamped again in Versamark, and then heat embossed them with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder. I used Kat Scrappiness snow on the pom-pom on his hat and added a few Back To Basics Jade Enamel Dots which finished the card front.

I cut the inside panel from Solar White cardstock and embellished it with a strip of yellow paper from the Back To Basics Lemon 12×12 Collection Pack and leftover strips of the argyle background and Black Licorice cardstock used on the front. I stamped two more sentiments from the same Birthday Sentiments stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black and Ranger mowed lawn inks, and layered the panel on Black Licorice cardstock.

Scrappy hugs,

Yay, it’s your bday!

Howdy peeps! It’s Saturday and I hope you have something fun planned this weekend and you’ll be able to stay cool while doing it! I have one more awesome ScrapbookingStore DT inspiration project to share with you created with the August 2024 Scrapbook Kit with Upgrades. I am totally digging all the papers, stickers and items in the upgrades this month… the colors and coordination are amazing!

There are a gazillion versions of the slider card out there and I’ve been looking at them on Pinterest and YouTube. I’ve made several over the years with a hidden message pop-up feature, penny sliders with tracks, and waterfall cards to name a few. The version I’m sharing today is slightly different in that it’s flat and won’t require extra postage to mail. I used papers and stickers from the sticker sheet along with chipboard bits from the upgrades. I’m including instructions in the Freebies section of my blog HERE if you’re interested in learning how to make this card.

I cut the card base from CutCardStock Raspberry Ice cardstock along with several arched die cuts (in graduating sizes) cut from coordinating papers in the kit with the Scrapbook.com Nested A2 Arches die set. I embellished the front panels with stickers from the collection and chipboard bits from the upgrades. I used Keep It Simple Back To Basics Mango Ribbon tied with Doodlebug Design Lily White Twine for the pull mechanism. Like the other versions, as you pull upwards, you expose a hidden message underneath.

I added another arched die cut to the back with a sentiment from the sticker sheet in the kit.

Scrappy hugs,

Celebrating You!

Hi friends! A big ol’ Happy Friday – I hope you’ve had an amazing week! I have another fun project to share for ScrapbookingStore, created with the awesome August 2024 Scrapbook Kit with Upgrades. Everybody needs birthday cards in their stash and with a birthday-themed kit, it can’t be any easier. I created a mini bendi card which is fun to make and very easy. I’ve made several of these over the years, having originally seen THESE instructions in a Splitcoast Stampers newsletter back in 2020. I changed a few of the measurements and instructions and have posted them in the Freebies section of my blog HERE if you’d like to learn how to make it. I used several coordinating papers and lots of stickers from the collection, along with glitter stickers and chipboard bits from the upgrades.

I cut the flat card base and two dimensional panels from CutCardStock Lessebo Sunset Orange cardstock along with layering panels for each from three coordinating prints in the collection. I ‘went to town’ decorating each panel with stickers from the sticker sheet along with glitter stickers and chipboard bits from the upgrades.

I popped up the glittered gifts on the right side with Kool Tac clear foam pads. I haven’t used these clear foam pads in forever and was afraid they’d be dried out, but they weren’t. I’m not even sure this company is still around. But these work very well under see-through elements. The stars on the left side of the bottom strip are chipboard and provide some fun texture.

Here’s a slight overhead shot so you can see the construction; this card is an A2 size and folds flat for mailing. I adhered two Solar White panels on the back which I embellished with sentiment and glitter stickers.

10 Notelets in a Box

Hey everybody! Happy Thursday – can you believe we’re on the downslide to another weekend already?! I have a cool ScrapbookingStore DT inspiration project to share created with the awesome August 2024 Scrapbook Kit with Upgrades. This birthday-themed collection has really pretty coordinating papers that can be used for nearly any occasion besides birthdays. I love the versatility! I crafted a 3-1/2″ square box with a scalloped lid that holds a set of ten all-occasion 3-1/4″ square notelets (two each of the five patterns shown below). I used coordinating papers from the collection and chipboard bits from the upgrades, adapting my project from THIS 2008 Splitcoast Stampers tutorial. The basic instructions are the same but I did change some of the measurements and I’ve added them to the Freebies section of my blog HERE.

I cut the box, lid and notelet bases from CutCardStock Lessebo Pitch Black cardstock. I used the Stampin’ Up Scallop Edge Punch around the edge of the lid piece and then covered the box and lid with two coordinating prints in the collection. I cut two layering panels from five prints in the kit for the front of the notelets and embellished them with chipboard bits from the upgrades.

I cut layering panels for the insides from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock, leaving the insides blank to write a custom message for the occasion. The final step was making little envelopes (not pictured) with my WRMK All-In-One Tool – The Works from 32# HP copy paper with 1/8″ Scor-Tape on the flaps. This was a fun project!

Scrappy hugs,

Fall Is Calling

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday – I hope your week is going along nicely! I’m up on the CutCardStock blog today with a tutorial for making a truck-shaped Fall card! I used a variety of cardstock for this one – Solar White, Stardream Metallic Flame, Bright Gold Foil and Dolphin Gray, along with Hot Fudge, Red Hot, and Black Licorice from our Pop Tone line. I also used dies and die cut pieces from Keep It Simple.

Using the KIS Cuts Vintage Truck dies, I cut the card base from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. Next, I cut the main truck body, rear end, and tail gate from Stardream Metallic Flame cardstock. I used Bright Gold Foil for the tail gate trim, bumper and license tag frame, along with Pop Tone Red Hot for the tail lights, Pop Tone Black Licorice for the tires, and Dolphin Gray for the window and mirrors.

I used the KIS Cuts Twinkling Stars Font to cut the F-A-L-L letters from Pop Tone Hot Fudge, and added the pumpkins and garland from the Keep It Simple Autumn Charm Die Cut Pieces. The sentiment on the license plate was stamped in Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink using the Autumn Charm Collection Stamps. The finishing touch was adding a few small iridescent gemstones.

I cut the inside panel from Hot Fudge and added a die cut oval cut with the Stitched Ovals Nested Dies along with a sentiment from the Autumn Charm Collection Stamps and cut with the coordinating Outline Dies.

It’s a dog’s life

Hey everybody! Happy Monday – I hope you had a great weekend! Today is World Photography Day and I’m sharing a Keep It Simple DT inspiration project featuring a photo of our pup and items from our Max and Daisy Collection to celebrate the day! This flip flap shutter card is all about our girl, Tuffy, who will be a year old on October 13th. She’s a spoiled Forkie (Frenchie + Yorkie) and the cutest pup ever! I discovered this fun fold online several months ago, watched several videos, and settled on THIS video to learn how to make it. I’ve added the instructions to the Freebie section of my blog HERE if you’d like to learn how to make it. Despite it’s complex look, it really is not that hard. I enjoyed watching it come together!

I cut the card base and flaps from CutCardStock Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink cardstock, and layering panels from the Keep It Simple Max and Daisy Collection Pack and Back To Basics Rose 12×12 Collection Pack. I printed the photo of Tuffy on glossy photo paper, trimmed it and cut it into three sections. I chose a sentiment from the ephemera in the Max and Daisy Collection Pack, and added a mini puffy sticker and a half-circle pull tab to the left side of the frame. I created this using a Stitched Circles Nested Die that I cut in half and added letters from the Clementine Collection Stickers.

I added two more sentiments and a ball from the ephemera sheet in the Max and Daisy Collection Pack, which completed the card. Here are angled and overhead shots with the flaps open.
